X Factor semi-finals see Lauren Platt exit the contest, losing sing-off to Andrea Faustini

Seventeen-year-old Lauren Platt found herself in the X Factor sing-off for the second week in a row, this time up against Andrea Faustini, one of the favourites to win the contest.

Mel B had told Lauren on Saturday night that she was still waiting for her to let loose.

Louis Walsh had told her he thought she’d struggled here and there with her performance on Saturday.

And Simon Cowell had said her performance was “good, not great”.

Mel had loved Andrea’s performance, though. “Everything you did was spot on,” she told him.

And Simon had told Andrea: “I didn’t like it…I loved it!”

“There hasn’t been a week when you haven’t sung fantastically,” added Cheryl.

Lauren sang Faith Hill’s “There You’ll Be”.

Andrea sang Jessie J’s “Who You Are”.

Cheryl saved her act, Lauren “Andrea, you’re an incredible singer and I believe in your future but I’m sticking with my heart and I’m saving Lauren.”

Mel saved her boy, Andrea. “My guy took it to church yet again,” she said.

Louis voted to keep Andrea and so did Simon. “I’m going with the person who I think over the whole series has deserved a place in the final,” Simon said.

So, the finalists are Fleur East, Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini.

The X Factor final is on ITV, Saturday, December 13, 8.30pm.
