It’s been almost three years since the death of Whitney Houston. But the life of the pop megastar definitely hasn’t been forgotten.
Whitney, a new TV movie dramatises the whirlwind romance – and later marriage between Whitney Houston (played by Yaya DaCosta, who was once a runner-up on America’s Next Top Model) and Bobby Brown. The story is set to a soundtrack of some of Whitney’s biggest hits including The Greatest Love Of All, I’m Every Woman and I Will Always Love You.
However, the movie has upset Whitney’s family who weren’t involved in the making of it. The late singer’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston issued an official statement on behalf of the family, slamming the movie:
“If you watch this move, watch it knowing that Lifetime is notorious for making bad biopics of deceased celebrities and brace yourself for the worst.”
Even so, the movie got record-breaking viewing figures when it was shown in America this month. UK viewers can see it for themselves when Whitney premieres on Lifetime, Thursday 12th February at 9pm.
