The Queen visits Game Of Thrones set in Belfast

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh today visited the Belfast studios where Sky Atlantic series Game Of Thrones is filmed.

Members of the cast were thrilled to meet royalty at their workplace. Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the hit fantasy series, said: “I’m extremely excited to meet the Queen and Prince Philip. I’m not sure if she’s seen the series, but I’d like to think she has.”

Among those also greeted by the Queen were Rose Leslie (Ygrit), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Kit Harington (John Snow). She also took a close look at the famous Iron Throne of Westeros.

But Her Majesty declined to sit on the iconic throne, wisely perhaps, considering the tragic fate of the last monarch who ruled from there. King Joffrey was poisoned in the last series.

The Queen and Prince Phillip are on a three-day visit to Northern Ireland.
