Gemma's mum Bernie is heading for Coronation Street... and she's going to cause trouble!
There’s drama aplenty heading to Coronation Street tonight when Gemma Winter’s mum, Bernie, arrives on the cobbles. But while Gemma is pleased to see her mum… she’s soon making Chesney Brown’s life a living hell.
Before Bernie makes her debut in today’s Coronation Street, things seem to be going well for Gemma and Chesney as they appear on a Weatherfield radio show, talking about their quads.
As they chat about how their life is going to change, radio presenter Jane assumes that they’re married, and it is left up to Chesney to set her straight.
But the pair are given food for thought when Jane tells them she can see a lot of love between them, and urges listeners to message in if they think Gemma and Chesney should get married.
After the interview has aired, Chesney puts his heart on the line for Gemma, telling her that he still loves her and wants them to be together… but just as they’re about to kiss, Bernie arrives and the mood is shattered.
But while Gemma is thrilled to see her troublesome mum, Bernie takes an instant dislike to Chesney and the pair are soon rubbing one another up the wrong way.
Chesney is fuming when Gemma reveals she wants to give their fundraising money for the quads to her mum, who is claiming that she is about to be thrown out of her home by her landlord.
But Chesney puts his foot down and refuses to had the cash over. However, he is set to get more than he bargained for when by the second instalment of Coronation Street tonight, he finds homeless Bernie moving in with him!
Chesney agrees for Gemma’s mum to have his bed for a few nights while she gets herself somewhere more permanent… but he soon lives to regret his generosity.
As the pair are heading off to bed, Bernice asks Chesney if he would like to share the big bed with her instead of bunking downstairs on the sofa, leaving Chesney appalled and in no doubt that Bernie is trouble.
Will the horror of having Bernie sticking around become too much for Chesney to bear and quickly put an end to any chance of him and Gemma getting back together?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
