Revealed: The special Christmas present that Coronation Street’s Carla Connor gives Peter Barlow

Clue: Just add water

Coronation Street’s Peter Barlow will be getting a Christmas present from Carla Connor this year – and it isn’t aftershave or socks. Carla’s about to really splash out, by buying her ex husband…a boat! Underworld is obviously doing very well.

Factory boss Carla makes the grand gesture on New Year’s Day, after persuading Peter to give up his plan to buy the snooker hall on Victoria Street.

Reveals actor Chris Gascoyne: “There are some really good scenes on New Year’s Eve. They have a game of snooker and she says ‘If you lose, then you have to sell this place, because it’s horrible and you’re just jumping from one thing to another.’ She beats him and he says ‘Alright, you were right about this place.’

“They’re on their own and they get very close. It’s a case of ‘Will they or wont they?”’

The following day, Carla then gives her ex something else to sink his teeth into. Over at number one, the Barlows are left stunned when a delivery man calls round with a boat.

Peter sets his heart on doing it up, and sailing around the Caribbean with son Simon.

Adds Chris: “It’s beautifully called ‘Lost Boy.’ He has to do it all up, which he does to pristine condition with a certain person that we can’t name – a very unlikely person who’s in the show.” Hmm, Roy Cropper, perhaps?

But sadly, it looks like “Lost Boy” may not leave Weatherfield, as Chris hints that a “tragedy” is on the cards.

He teases: “He’s really happy doing the boat. He sees is as a way to leave, but it’s a dream.

“He’s working on the boat with the idea of ‘I’m going to do this up and I’m going to leave all this behind’. That’s the great thing about it, the tragedy of what happens.”
