Non-Stop | DVD review – Liam Neeson’s rugged action hero bumps airborne thriller up to first class

Non-Stop_DVD_3D copyForget Stallone or Schwarzenegger, when Hollywood needs a mature action hero, Liam Neeson is currently the go-to guy. Following his exploits in The Grey, Unknown and the Taken movies, airborne thriller Non-Stop sees him as a whisky-soaked air marshal trying to unmask the blackmailer on a flight from New York to London who is threatening to kill a passenger every 20 minutes unless $150million lands in a secret account. A stratospherically preposterous but absurdly enjoyable mix of whodunit, ticking-bomb suspense and turbulent action is the result. Ultimately, it’s strictly B-movie fare, but the ruggedly heroic Neeson bumps Non-Stop up from economy and gets first-class support from Julianne Moore and Corey Stoll (House of Cards) as enigmatic passengers and from Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) and Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) as plucky flight attendants.
