'It’s going to be a bumpy/clumsy ride!'
Former Coronation Street favourite Catherine Tyldesley has become the latest star announced for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing – and she tweeted that she’s ‘TERRIFIED’.
The 35-year-old star, who played Weatherfield’s Eva Price, is the fifth star announced for Strictly 2019.
And she tweeted: “Beyond excited!!!! And TERRIFIED!!! Can’t wait!! Thanks for all your messages already! Here we go!!! Hold onto your jazz shoes – it’s going to be a bumpy/clumsy ride!”
The other stars confirmed so far are EastEnders star Emma Barton, ex England goalkeeper David James, comedian Chris Ramsey and YouTuber Saffron Barker.
Catherine said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. I’m a huge fan of the show. It’ll be my biggest challenge to date as I’m not much of a dancer, but I’ve always wanted to learn the skill and the time feels right! I’m nervous as hell but super excited to work with such talented professionals.”
Earlier this year Catherine starred in Channel 5 thriller 15 Days. Asked by TV Times at the time if she was still in touch with her Corrie friends, Catherine replied: “We’re all still really close. People ask if I’d ever go back but at the moment I want to focus on other things. But I’d never say never…”.
Catherine, whose credits include Holby City and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, has recently finished filming the new six-part BBC1 comedy series Scarborough, written by the creator of long-running sitcom Benidorm.
The BBC is expected to announce more names shortly for the new series of Strictly, which will begin this autumn. The line-up so far is ex Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley, EastEnders star Emma Barton, former England goalkeeper David James, comedian Chris Ramsey and YouTuber Saffron Barker.
