Eamonn Holmes: ‘Prince was more of a girls’ artist than a boys’ artist’

Eamonn Holmes has been criticised by viewers after he called Prince ‘more of a girls’ artist’.

He made the comments on ITV’s This Morning while discussing the Purple Rain singer’s life and death with his wife and co-presenter Ruth Langsford.

Tributes have flooded in from all over the globe following the musician’s shock death aged 57 at his home in Minneapolis.

Holmes said: “I think there was a bit of a problem with Prince.

“He was more of a girls’ artist than a boys’ artist. It was the flamboyancy. We find it hard to relate to him because there’s that flamboyancy that you had with David Bowie as well…”

Viewers and Prince fans are NOT happy, just look at their reactions:

Although some (one or two) people have defended Eamonn:

Eamonn returned to his presenting duties last week after a 10-week absence following a double hip operation.
