Louise Brealey, fan favourite Molly in Sherlock, is heading to Saint Marie
Death in Paradise has revealed that Sherlock actress Louise Brealey, who played morgue worker Molly Hooper, will be guest starring in the new series of the sun-soaked BBC1 detective hit.
And it’s fair to say Louise looks a million miles away from Molly, who was famously infatuated with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, in the first picture released of her guest part in episode two of Death in Paradise series nine.
The show’s official twitter page teases: “Louise arrives on the island as troubled artist Donna Harman, but how will her story unfold?.”

We suspect that Donna Harman will be one of the murder suspects Jack (played by Ardal O’Hanlon) will be investigating. Although she could be a victim…

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that former EastEnders actress Nina Wadia, who played Albert Square’s Zainab, will also enjoy a guest role. She appears to be a potential love interest for Jack, with the show’s Twitter page teasing: “Will an encounter with D.I. Jack Mooney lead to new things on the horizon?”

Also guesting in the new run is another EastEnders actor, Adrian Edmondson. Adrian will feature in the show’s opening episode as the wonderfully named Charles Crabtree! “Charles witnesses an attack in our first episode of the series but does his story really add up?”

The new series of Death in Paradise will of course see a new leading man as Ralf Little arrives on the island as new top cop Detective Inspector Neville Parker. It’s not yet been revealed exactly when and how Ardal will depart the show as Jack.
Death in Paradise will return for a new series in January on BBC1.
