Always a night to remember, next year’s National Television Awards is bound to be extra special as it’s the 20th anniversary of the awards.
This year’s star-studded event, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, was a big night for Coronation Street, which walked away with the Most Popular Serial Drama Award, while Julie Hesmondhaigh picked up the coveted Most Popular Serial Drama Performance award for her moving portrayal of terminally ill Hayley Cropper.
It was a memorable night for Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly too, who were honoured with a Landmark Award celebrating their 25 year career together. Ant and Dec also won the trophy for Most Popular Entertainment Presenters for the 13th year running.
Other high-profile winners voted by the public in 2014 included Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) for TV Detective, Doctor Who for Drama and Mrs Brown’s Boys for Comedy.
The 2015 awards are confirmed to be taking place at The O2 London on Wednesday, January 21. And organisers are already working hard to ensure 2015’s red carpet event surpasses 2014’s ceremony, which saw Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland, Sex & the City’s Chris Noth and supermodel Naomi Campbell among those presenting awards.
Tickets for the event, to be broadcast live on ITV, are now on sale here.
Whether watching at home or at the event What’s on TV will keep you posted on how to vote for your favourite stars and shows.
