From Powerhouse Films comes the Indicator world Blu-ray premiere release of 1969’s Otley from comedy legends Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais
Born loser Gerald Otley (Tom Courtenay) is a Portobello Road layabout and sleeping off a hangover when his host is murdered. Otley soon becomes involved in some international espionage, blundering from one near-crisis to another, while also getting romantically embroiled with a sexy foreign agent (Romy Schneider).
This lively comedy thriller comes from the talented team of Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, best known for The Likely Lads, Porridge, and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. Courtenay creates a sympathetic character out of the cowardly, workshy ‘hero’ who finds himself up to his neck in spy trouble. The sardonic dialogue and brisk pace are spot-on throughout. There’s a host of famous faces to look out for including James Bolam, Freddie Jones, Leonard Rossiter, Fiona Lewis, Geoffrey Bayldon and Phyllida Law.
