It’s 32 years since Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) visited Walley World as a child in 1983’s National Lampoon’s Vacation.
Now he’s determined to take his own family, jaded wife Christina Applegate and boys Skyler Gisondo and bullying younger brother Steele Stebbins, to the theme park – with similarly hysterically disastrous results.
The cast – which also includes Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann and cameos from Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, reprising their roles as Rusty’s parents – makes the most of the steady stream of gags. A few may prove too gross-out for some tastes, including a memorably awful bathing experience, but the many jokes at the expense of their hopeless car, a clunky, gas-guzzling minivan with an angry sat nav that barks out orders in Korean, are priceless.
