Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) is panicking ahead of her husband Damon Kinsella’s trial in Hollyoaks.
Damon (Jacob Roberts) is accused of fraud and stealing money which he only did as an act of desperation thinking that Maxine was dying.
Still none the wiser over his wife’s deception, James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) has come on board as his lawyer and is ready to defend him in court.
However with the stress mounting, Maxine tells Damon that she only has a few weeks left to live and given the circumstances, she asks James if he can waive his legal fees and represent Damon for free!
When James says that won’t be possible, desperate Damon thinks there’s only one way to raise the cash and that’s if he sells his half of The Loveboat which he co-owns with his best mate, Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward).
However, when Sienna Blake (Anna Passey), who is the only person besides the medics who knows that Maxine has been lying about her terminal illness, finds out that Maxine has been piling on yet more lies and hears about yet more sacrifices Damon is being forced to make, she’s furious!
Will she tell Damon and James the shocking truth about Maxine? Or could James be about to find out himself when he tells Maxine he’ll need to see all her medical records?
Meanwhile, Marnie Nightingale (Lysette Anthony) is trying to act as matchmaker for her laywer son.
James, has been bereft ever since his boyfriend, Harry Thompson’s sudden and unexplained departure from Chester, and still has no idea that Harry is dead after being murdered in cold blood by serial killer Breda McQueen (Moya Brady).
Interfering Marnie tells James that she has lined up a surprise date for him but covers that he’s the son of one of her friends. However James quickly susses out his mum and deliberately scares his date away. He later decides to give the dating app a try but will he find a good match to help heal his broken heart?
