Stuart Highway makes a shock admission, Mel Owen ups her blackmail demands, and Gray Atkins makes wife Chantelle a promise.
Stuart Highway in EastEnders is keen to help out girlfriend Rainie Branning who is clearly struggling with withdrawal symptoms after coming off prescription painkillers.
But when the situation in the funeral parlour flat ends up disturbing customers in the parlour, Stuart’s brother Callum Highway tells him he’ll have to find another way to help her out. Stuart does his best to explain to Callum what he’s trying to do and it leads him to confess that he’s a recovering addict.
Callum is in total shock, as he didn’t know about his brother’s former addiction Agreeing to help Stuart help Rainie, he approaches his funeral parlour boss Jay Mitchell to reach a compromise. Stuart goes back to the flat to check on Rainie and she breaks down in his arms.
Lisa Fowler is suspicious that her friend Mel Owen is up to something dodgy and she confronts her. Mel insists that everything is above board, despite secretly continuing her blackmail of a pregnant Sharon Mitchell. When Mel adds another demand to her list, Sharon is infuriated and she attempts to get the upper hand. Mel, however, gets really nasty and gives Sharon a threat that she can’t ignore. Stunned about how dark Mel has become, Sharon is left shaken and she is fearful of Mel’s latest request…
Gray Atkins is booked in for a therapy appointment to address his anger issues and his violence towards wife Chantelle Atkins. Keen to support her hubby, Chantelle insists she’ll be there for him. A grateful and repentant Gray promises Chantelle that he’ll never hurt her again. But will he keep his promise?
Also, Ted Murray has a heart-to-heart with Wanda about his late wife Joyce Murray and they kiss. Jay Mitchell ends up with a fat lip after helping brother Ben Mitchell with a dodgy job.
