There's tension in Letherbridge as the case of baby Josh goes to court on Doctors. Can parents Theresa and Jack win their fight to save their son?
Phil and Theresa Sutton (played by Jack Bennett and Ibinabo Jack) are still clinging onto hope that their baby Josh can be saved on Doctors.
Josh has been on a life support machine since he was born prematurely. The hospital medics have told Phil and Theresa that it’s unlikey their son will survive without the ventilator. But the couple believe there are still signs of life and are refusing to give their consent to switch off the life support machine.
So now the case is going to court, and things are getting heated in Letherbridge.
As Dr Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) and midwife Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel) arrive at court to support Theresa and Phil, there’s chaos outside the building as protestors clash with police!
Dr Janet Fielding (Emma Cunniffe) takes to the stand to explain why keeping Josh on the ventilator indefinitely is not in the baby’s best interests.
But desperate mum Theresa is determined to have her say and explain why she needs to fight to save her son’s life.
At the end of the proceedings, what will the judge decide? Will it be the verdict that Theresa and Phil so desperately want to hear?
Elsewhere in Letherbridge, Daniel Granger (Matthew Chambers) and girlfriend Becky Clarke (Ali Bastian) are back from their romantic weekend away.
But as surgery receptionist Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) tries to find out all the gossip about Daniel and Becky, it’s all too much for Daniel’s estranged wife Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh), who does her best to avoid the pair and finds a friend in colleague Al Haskey (Ian Midlane).
Doctors continues weekdays at 1:45pm on BBC One
