Wendy Craig and Bruce Montague, the stars of classic BBC comedy Butterflies, are reunited in Doctors as a pair of dodgy pensioners!
Remember the late 70s/early 80s BBC comedy Butterflies? In today’s episode of Doctors (1:45pm on BBC One, see our TV Guide for full listings), Wendy Craig (who was frustrated married housewife Ria) and Bruce Montague (who played businessman Leonard, who took a fancy to Ria) are reunited on screen as pensioners Connie Dorsey and Clyde Butler.
When the charity tin goes missing from the desk of the Campus Surgery, Dr Al Haskey (played by Ian Midlane) realises that the only people who could have stolen it are sweet-natured pensioners, Connie and Clyde!
Surgery receptionist Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) insists the thieving pair are brought to justice.
However, all may not be as it seems, so Al decides to investigate and find out whether Connie and Clyde really are Letherbridge’s answer to those other famous outlaws with very similar names!
Meanwhile, Imogen Hollins (Charlie Clemmow) returns to Letherbridge to begin her new role as Creative Producer for the Letherbridge Art Fest.
Her mum Karen (Jan Pearson) is thrilled as Imogen visits The Mill to meet with surgery practice manager Becky Clarke (Ali Bastian) and discuss getting the surgery staff involved with a project for the Fest – where they can talk about Art and what it means to them.
They just need someone to film the interviews on camera… and they’re good to go! What could possibly go wrong?
Also, Karen is secretly pleased when Imogen and Dr Sid Vere (Ashley Rice) bump into each other again for the first time since their summer fling.
The pair keep it casual, but match-making Karen is convinced Imogen and Sid are a potential romance just waiting to happen!
Doctors continues weekdays at 1:45pm on BBC One
