About me
Hi, I’m Aleesha – digital news writer for woman&home. I have been with the team since 2018, but have been working as a beauty, health, lifestyle and entertainment writer since 2017.
After completing my MA in Magazine Journalism at City, University of London in 2017, where I specialised in entertainment, I interned at a number of national titles including Women’s Health, Stylist and Harper’s Bazaar.
Following my degree I freelanced for Women’s Health's digital team, where I wrote features and new pieces on health, beauty, fitness, wellbeing and food. I also did some work for Stylist’s beauty desk, where I ensured general smooth running of the beauty team and contributed to print and digital editorial and the brand’s social pages.
Before going into Journalism, I worked as a Literacy, English and Spanish teaching assistant in a grammar school back in my home town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire. This was after graduating from University of Leeds with a BA in English and Spanish, which involved me spending nine months living and studying in Madrid.
My specialist subjects
Throughout my career so far I have focused on health, beauty and wellbeing news and advice and like to follow that interest in my everyday life with copious amounts of herbal tea, Pilates and hyaluronic acid (although chocolate obviously makes an appearance too – #balance).
I'm also interested in travel content, as I am a bit of a jet-setter plus love to make the most of my Spanish skills (and attempt to learn little bits of other languages) where I can.
I cover entertainment and celebrity news extensively, so like to follow Phil and Holly’s This Morning antics, keep up with the latest film and TV releases and of course the newest Netflix offerings, which I swiftly binge-watch on the weekends. And I'm an avid reader so always follow the literary charts.
And I’ll admit – I am totally obsessed with the royals, so love reporting on anything and everything that they’ve been up to.
