Whatsontv.co.uk’s mission is to ensure our readers have the best possible TV viewing experience, whether they’re watching Freeview, Sky or Virgin, Netflix or Amazon Prime.
Our in-the-know articles and behind-the-scenes access to the stars ensure that our content is relevant, informative and unmissable.
Our Soap coverage is unrivalled, giving up to 1 million users each month the very latest soap spoilers and gripping news stories for EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Neighbours, Home & Away, Holby City, and not forgetting, Casualty!
Our sister magazine titles, What’s On TV, TV Times, and TV & Satellite Week, are read by nearly three million people each week and their acclaimed writers contribute to our website, which was launched in 2007.

Our writers

All of our writers have been selected because of their extensive knowledge of the TV world and between them have interviewed many of the nation’s most famous stars.

David Hollingsworth

David Hollingsworth has been editing Whatsontv.co.uk since 2017 and has been reporting on television for the last 20 years.
Prior to joining whatsontv.co.uk, David worked as a Features Editor and writer on TV Times.
Over the years, David has interviewed some of the biggest names on television including Dame Helen Mirren, Sir David Attenborough, Kiefer Sutherland and David Walliams.
David has also appeared on television, popping up once as an extra on Emmerdale and trying his luck at Bargain Hunt!

Claire Crick

Claire Crick has been a journalist for 15 years, writing about everything from soaps and TV, to beauty and entertainment.
Before joining the whatsontv.co.uk team Claire spent 13 years working for a soap magazine where she interviewed some of the most famous faces in soapland, pulling pints at the Rovers Return and visiting Albert Square.
Claire’s love of all things soapy means she likes nothing better than writing about the latest soap gossip and spoilers on a daily basis. But if she’s not writing about soaps, thinking about soaps, or watching soaps, then she can be found reading, running or going on adventures with her kids.

Elaine Reilly

Know affectionately as ‘Casualty Elaine’ in the office, it will come as no surprise that Elaine is our main correspondent for Casualty. But Elaine loves covering a wide variety of programmes including quiz shows, documentaries, gardening, drama, comedy and wildlife, while chatting to some of TV’s best loved stars along the way.

With over 18 years of experience in entertainment journalism, Elaine’s written about most things, from film reviews to soaps, and even managed a chat forum for a while!

After a working day of talking about TV, watching TV, interviewing TV talent and writing about TV, Elaine likes nothing more than to go home… and watch TV!

Alison Slade

Alison has almost twenty years experience in TV journalism; most of those spent writing about her favourite genre – soap operas. She has rubbed shoulders with soap greats past and present – amongst them Julie Goodyear, Steve McFadden, Claire King and Eccles the dog.

As Soap Editor for TVTimes and TV&Satellite Week, she spends her time watching soaps, writing about soaps, interviewing actors who are in soaps, and occasionally judging soaps – she has been on the panel for The British Soap Awards and the BAFTA Television Awards on numerous occasions.

Away from soapland, she loves posh nosh, cheesy 90’s dance music and theatre.

Sarah Waterfall

Sarah has been writing about soaps for nearly 20 years! She’s worked on Hello!, WOMAN magazine, PA News, Closer, TVeasy – and, currently, What’s On TV.

During her career, so far, she’s interviewed tons of famous people from soap stars and TV stars to movie stars and popstars.

But soaps have always been her mainstay, visiting the sets and writing about the shenanigans in Soapland week in week out, earning Sarah a place on the judging panel for The British Soap Awards in 2017 and 2018 – and the nickname Soapbird!
